Is This Thing On?

Sorry for the lack of updates… work, work, work. Computers suck!
I did manage to sneak out and see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Loved it! Right up there with Kill Bill Vol 2 and Spider-Man 2 as one of my favorite movies of the year so far.
Now bring on Team America: World Police!
Latre.

Movies? Eagerly anticipating "Shaun of the Dead" (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0365748/) – in ‘limited release’ this Friday, meaning it probably won’t hit the flyover states without an unexpected success of some kind. But it’s written by and stars some friends of my wife’s, so we’re both looking forward to it.
As for normal movies, we finally saw "Intolerable Cruelty" recently, so I think we’re catching up a bit…

Actually, Shaun of the Dead starts here on Friday, just like it does in the real cities. Not at a lot of theaters, but at least one non-arthouse venue is showing it.

Cool – I’ll let you know whether to go see it, soon as we find out whether it’s any good. Of the people she knows in it, the one who wrote it she knows as a good standup and actor, and the one we know who’s both of the above plus a demonstrated-ly great writer is only acting in it, so we’ll have to see…
I put it to you: you’re only looking forward to "Team America" ‘cos the Thunderbirds movie is (was?) live-action.

Puppets rule. I am, after all, a Farscape fan.

You lucky dogs! They’re not even showing "Sky Captain" where I live.

That’s because you live in the South and they only show Jeff Foxworthy and Reese Witherspoon movies down there. Move!

…lives up to the hype, and to the pedigree of the writer(s). Very funny – had a packed house laughing throughout!
Dylan ("David") was a bit under-used in our opinion, esp. in the first half of the movie, but gee does he clean up nice! (Fahey was amused trying to picture the part of the contract negotiation where they explain how he’d have to comb his hair for the role…)
‘Nuff said. Go see it.

(keep forgetting there’s no subject line in this setup)
I meant to write: "Shaun of the Dead" lives up to the hype, and etc.

I did see Shaun of the Dead this weekend. I was amused, though it was in many ways a one-joke movie and I started to tire of that joke by the end. I thought it could have benefited from some editing, especially around the climax. Loved the zombie in the wheelchair.
Poor David!
