We interrupt this blog for a Public Service Announcement:
My friend John Sharples, famous drummer/musician/lawyer has just put out his first solo CD, I Can Explain Everything, and it’s an essential addition to any respectable CD collection. All of the songs were written for him by his friends or are cover versions of more famous songs. It’s an eclectic mix of styles and should have something for everyone. The vibe is fun and the musicianship is top-notch. I found myself enjoying tunes in styles that I don’t normally get into, such as the countrified twangy pedal steel of Papa Gene’s Blues, written by Michael Nesmith of all people. My favorite tracks are That’s Just Part Of My Charm, written by Jules Verdone, and the Paula Carino-penned Eminence Rouge. My other buddies at 125 Records are carrying the disc for $10, and it’s definitely worth it.
And hey, you know that any CD that has a copy of Blue Oyster Cult’s Secret Treaties featured in the cover photo has got to be brilliant…
