‘Tis The Season To Be Visited By Your Future Self

It’s that time of the year again. Yes, it’s that time when many comic strips feature a story line parodying A Christmas Carol. But what amazed me today was that two strips, Frazz and Candorville both had gags involving the main character being visited by a future version of himself. In the case of Frazz, the discussion of this was not actually related to A Christmas Carol, but in Candorville it was.
It always fascinates me when too cartoonists use the same theme on the same day, or at least it makes me wonder if there’s some sort of cartoonist conspiracy going on.
I’m easily fascinated.
And oh yeah…
Cartoonists, if you really want to engage in a conspiracy, how about next year not doing any strips riffing off A Christmas Carol. Get some new ideas, guys!!
Also, let’s not see any more gags about how hard it is to put up Christmas lights. Thanks.
Latre.

The comic strip Drabble is also currently parodying A Christmas Carol this week. I agree — yawn.

Don’t get too used to the new layout, Paula, as it will change some more once I have time to work on it.
Sue, I actually kind of like what they’re doing with ACC in Drabble (though Drabble in general has been spectacularly unfunny and predictable for a very long time). The gimmick of bringing back characters who were excised from the strip is kinda meta-funny.
