How Green is my Invisible Plane?

I love that there’s a holiday devoted to just drinking and acting stupid, but shouldn’t it always fall on a weekend? It should be a real, organized holiday where hordes of righteous, good, teetotalling samaritans are posted at drinking establishments everywhere in order to act as designated drivers for the rest of us fools. Ah well, another night of sitting at home drinking Rolling Rock straight from the green bottle, eating leftover corned beef, and watching Colin Farrell movies. No off-key singing of drunken U2 medleys this year!
They’ve officially announced that Joss Whedon will be directing the big screen Wonder Woman movie. On the one hand, if you’ve just got to make a Wonder Woman movie (and I seriously doubt that you do), you might as well have Joss Whedon direct it and then there’s some hope it will be entertaining. On the other hand, I really would’ve preferred he direct X-Men 3 instead (he does write one of the comics, after all), but that’s apparently going to some dude I’ve never heard of (Matthew Vaughn, who at least was a producer on Neil Gaiman’s A Short Film About John Bolton, so he’s got some comics-related cred there).
I guess we should start campaigning now to get Charisma Carpenter cast as Wonder Woman…
Latre.

Much as I like Charisma Carpenter, I don’t think she’s right for the role. I think Wonder Woman needs a more commanding physical presence, even more than mere physical beauty. Also for my money physical grace and athleticism, though I’m pessimistic about that being a criteria ever used in Hollywood. The only actresses I can easily envision in the role based on my own criteria are Lucy Lawless and Angelina Jolie. I’m sure there are others I should be thinking of, but those are the two that come to mind.

Hmm. Ms. Carpenter has always been plenty physically commanding for me…
I’m a Whedon fan, anxiously waiting for the Serenity movie.

I agree, jk. Physical presence is definitely not a problem.
I have very hopes for Serenity also. I think it’s going to rock. I loved Firefly, especially after the DVDs.
Alan, I could maybe see Jolie, except that after Lara Croft, I’m not sure she’d want to do something that was so similar. Lawless is too long in the tooth, IMO.
