Today I Woke Up Uncertain

Last night, I finally got around to watching my DVD of Dirty Old Town, the concert film featuring Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. Though it was a good glimpse into the man and the music, I felt it needed more (music, at least). There were really only nine songs performed, and the sound quality (especially on the vocals) was not the best I’ve ever heard. But the video was good, and it did show what a mesmerizing performer Ted is. He did perform two of my favorite songs/political tracts (and live show highlights) The Ballad of the Sin Eater (which Ted explained was about the dichotomy of disagreeing with your country’s policies yet still being ostracized for them abroad) and The High Party. And it made me really want to go back and listen to my entire Ted Leo music collection again. So, time well spent. Ted rules.
