John Kerry Cost Me $75

I got a voice mail invitation to participate in a market survey focus group thing for two hours this Wednesday night. I’ve done this sort of thing before – it’s cool because they always recruit more people than they need, so if they end up not using you when you get there, they still pay you the full fee. And even if you do participate, hey… you get the money and you get to talk about yourself for a couple of hours. This survey was to be on “general voting habits”. I called the research company to enroll. In order to make sure I was somewhat politically astute and followed current events, they asked me to name one of the two senators from Colorado. I immediately said “Wayne Allard” (the Republican), but for the life of me I couldn’t remember the name of the other one (Ken Salazar, the democrat, whom I voted for). What was up with that? I did remember him right after hanging up.

Anyway, the next question was: Who did I vote for in the Presidential election? When I said “John Kerry”, the interviewer remarked that there sure were a lot of people in Colorado who voted for Kerry. I said that was news to me. Then he said I was disqualified because their Kerry group was already filled. D’oh! Should’ve said “Bush”, but who’da thunk?

So I figure John Kerry cost me the participation reimbursement, which was $75. Just another thing for me to be disappointed in him about.

Latre.

Spotted on a bumper sticker here: “The Democrats need better donkeys.”
