One Of Those Days

This morning, for the first time ever, the power went off at my house while I was taking a shower. The weather was clear, so it wasn’t a weather-related outage. Unlike most of the homes in this development, I opted not to have a skylight in my bathroom (which turned out to be a good decision, since many of my neighbors’ skylights leaked) and the bathroom has no outside walls/windows. So it was total darkness in the stall. In the confusion, I suffered a shampoo accident and got a lot of it in my right eye. My eyes have been pretty sensitive to that sort of thing ever since the Lasik surgery, so I was in distress all day, despite copious applications of eye drops. Sucks to be me, right?
The power was still not back on when I left for work, and the automated message at Xcel said the estimated uptime was 11:30. At least I remembered to turn off the lights and power strips before I left for work, so that I didn’t come home to a totally lit up house and a blaring TV like last time. Having to engage the garage door manually was a bit of a pain, since the people who installed my new door didn’t put a handle on the outside. Well, at least it deters thieves. I was surprised when I got home and all the lights and such were truly off even though the power was back on. For once, I didn’t miss anything. But it was sure fun resetting all the clocks and the VCR.
Also, when I came home, there was a failed delivery notice from UPS, which was really strange since I haven’t ordered anything. So they were trying to make me sign for something I didn’t even order, and now I’ve got to deal with it. When I called UPS to have them reroute it to my work address, I didn’t recognize the name of the sending company. Hey, did anybody out there send me something? Delayed birthday present perhaps? Oh well, I guess I’ll find out tomorrow.
Would You Believe… Don Adams is gone? And that he was 82 years old? Wow, makes me feel old, since I remember watching Get Smart back in the first run days. I had a big crush on Barbara Feldon/Agent 99, which I admit is a little strange for an 8-year old. Here’s to you, Don. May there be shoe phones in heaven so that you can keep in contact with those of us left behind.
Latre.

Re skylights in bathrooms: one needs to be careful, what with the angle of the skylight, that it doesn’t double as a sort of video projector at night. This happened to my uncle – the skylight was at about a 45-degree angle, and even though it was mounted well above the heads of any showerers, apparently the neighbors across the road were treated to a clear overhead view…

Lucky for my neighbors that I don’t have a skylight then. Not to mention the helicopter pilots.
Oh! I think I just figured out what the mystery package contains! If so, very cool.

Bathroom skylight: another place to not install one is in a row house on a block where hard-partying daredevils live.
Agent 99: me too. Prolly the earliest crush I can recall.

I had a big Barbara Feldon crush, too. Perhaps the genes that cause music appreciation are linked to finding her attractive at a young age. I sure hope your package is Soviet Space Monkey pants.

What’s this about hoping Rog’s package is in Soviet Space Monkey pants? Can you guys keep the personal stuff off the public pages please?
