Stay on Message, Luke

So… how do the Democrats intend to unseat the Republicans and gain back the trust and favor of the American people? Is it by doing something about the health care crisis? Protesting an unwinnable war? Maybe by defending science and reversing the dumbing down of Americans? By combatting an administration in disarray that can’t seem to get it together in times of crisis to help its own people? By doing something about runaway government spending? By protecting the rights of consumers in the face of increasingly restrictive and disruptive rights-control measures enacted by short sighted corporations? By focusing on core values and services instead of fear mongering? Nope. It’s apparently by becoming more like the neo-cons and submitting bills to legislate morality and make government do the job of parents. I’m speaking, of course, of the Clinton/Lieberman-backed Family Entertainment Protection Act, which seeks to legislate the rating and retailing of videogames. Despite a recent pseudo-scandal, the ESRB is a fine system, as long as parents actually care enough to use it. But no, parents are taken out of the loop, and it’s up to the government, the software manufacturers, and the retailers to decide and enforce what happens in the home. Gak. Politicians – phewy. The whole lot of them, both parties, should be locked in a room and forced to play Barbie Horse Adventures until their brains seize.

Bill, I took the liberty of fixing your original comment and deleting the subsequent one. FYI, you can use normal HTML for any comments. I should probably specify that somewhere.
I liked the cartoon and I totally agree…

Thanks for fixing that! I was expecting it to work like most of the forums I frequent, where you have to tag the URLs.

Jeff, I don’t want to hear about your barbie horse adventures.
