Actors Out On Loan

Continuing this week’s theme of music on TV shows…
Anyone watching Wednesday night’s ABC lineup* this week (aside from the loathsome Lost clip show – just how many times can they repackage the same story?) was probably wondering why it suddenly became Riders On The Storm Night. I know I was. The classic Doors song was used twice in Invasion to underscore dramatic scenes. And the Blondie vs Doors mashup Rapture Riders (which blends Blondie’s Rapture with Riders On The Storm) was featured prominently in a club scene in Alias. That was some bizarre bit of synchronistic scheduling there.
I tried to find a site where an MP3 of Rapture Riders resided so I could link to it, but it seems to have disappeared from the Internet. I’m glad I downloaded my copy (legally, I assume, from the creator’s website) back when it was around. It was created by the mashup master at Go Home Productions, and can be streamed on the GHP MySpace page. I bet the reason it can’t be found for (free) download anymore is because it was released as a single and is doing well on the US dance charts, as well as on the singles charts in other countries. I’m surprised that the rights issues were ironed out for such a thing and that mashups have gained legitimacy and legality. Shows how much I know.
Latre.
* – Which I was able to watch over satellite HD finally. More on that later.

It’s being promoted heavily as the single from the latest Blondie Greatest Hits album, coinciding with their induction into the R & R Hall Of Fame. There’s even an awful video for it.

You’re right. I didn’t read far enough down the GHP page. I wonder if the song will also be included on the upcoming Doors 12-disc box set…
