And The Joke’s On You

Run, don’t walk, to this site and view the new trailer for The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins. If that doesn’t just knock you down and blow you away, then you are dead to me. I really like what Christopher Nolan is doing with his reinvention of the Batman movie franchise; I raved repeatedly about Batman Begins and it looks like the new one will be just as good or better. I’m really glad they waited until the second film to unveil The Joker, instead of mixing him in with Batman’s origin like they did in the previous franchise. It really gave the film series somewhere to go.
I have great affection for the first film in the original franchise, especially considering what came after. It did have a buttload of faults – Tim Burton really has problems actually telling a story, though he’s gotten better over the years. Jack Nicholson’s Joker was right for the times, but the movie focused too much on him and I’m not sure he quite got the characterization right. As frequently noted, he was playing “the Jack Nicholson” character, rather than The Joker per se. I was initially hesitant about the casting of Heath Ledger as the new Joker in Dark Knight, but after seeing this trailer, I no longer have any doubts. That’s some scary s*it acting right there. Gives me chills.
Of course, movies rarely live up to their trailers. I’m really hoping this one does.
Jogged Today: No, still icy.
Today’s Weight: 165 lbs
Lunch Yesterday: None – late breakfast.
Pet Peeve of the Day: Spotted on the way to work today: A soccer mom minivan with the bumpersticker “CAUTION! DO NOT TAILGATE!”. Yeah, like that’s going to stop anyone. If anything, that kind of warning makes me more likely to do it.
Latre.

But what about “Some days, you just can’t get rid of a bomb!”?

It’d be even more amusing if the bumper sticker were printed in like 8-pt. type…
